Tomasz Wierzba worked as a crane driver in the port of Gdańsk before studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts there. Since 2017 he has made work with and about the night crews of the Waalhaven, borrowing their jackets, gloves and lunch boxes and returning them a year later, cast.
His sculptures are made to be the weight of a person. They are shown on pallets, at the height a forklift would leave them, and they are never lit from above.
